BJMP slams killing of QC jail assistant warden

MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) condemned the killing of the assistant warden of the Quezon City Jail annex on Thursday in Parañque City. 

This development came after the police started the investigation into the murder of Jail Sr. Insp. Robert Barquez, who was shot dead in Barangay Don Bosco, Parañaque.

According to BJMP Spokesperson Jail Chief Insp. Xavier Solda, they are now working with the police in investigating into the case.

“Mariing kinukondena ng BJMP ang pamamaslang kay Jail Senior Inspector Robert Barquez ng Quezon City Jail Annex.  Kasalukuyan ng nagiimbestiga ang hanay ng ating kapulisan sa nangyaring pagpatay,” Solda said in a statement.

(The BJMP strongly condemns the assassination of Jail Senior Inspector Robert Barquez of Quezon City Jail Annex.  Currently, police officers are investigating the incident.)

Reports from the Parañaque Police Station said that Barquez was driving his Mitsubishi Expander along Doña Soledad Avenue around 11:00 a.m. when two men aboard a motorcycle gunned him down.

The victim was declared was dead on the spot while investigators have yet to pinpoint the direction where the armed men fled.

“Nakikiramay po ang buong kawanihan ng BJMP sa pamilya ng nasawi naming kasamahan.  Hangad po namin na makamit ni Senior Inspector Barquez ang hustisya sa lalong madaling panahon,” Solda added. /jpv
