This Week’s Festivals: July 28 - Aug. 3, 2019Aug. 1 to 31: Manaragat Festival



Sustainable practices in the fishing industry will be highlighted in the monthlong festival in Catbalogan City, Samar province.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Culture as an Identity, Uniting People through Festivity.”


Main events include the grand parade and showdown, and cultural presentations that promote fishing, the main livelihood of the city’s residents.

Aug. 2: Adlaw Hong Butuan

Annual charter day celebration in Butuan City in Agusan del Norte province.

In November last year, President Rodrigo Duterte signed Republic Act No. 11137 declaring Aug. 2 of every year a special nonworking holiday in Butuan City to commemorate its charter day anniversary.

Festivities include a thanksgiving Mass, street party, sports events, agro-industrial fair and photo competition.
