MANILA, Philippines—Authorities on Tuesday recovered an improvised explosive device in Cotabato City Tuesday, a military spokesman said.

In a text message, Eastern Mindanao Command spokesman Colonel Leopoldo Galon said the IED was recovered by elements of the military’s 6th Infantry Division inside a backpack in Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex at 9 a.m. Tuesday. Inside the bag was one cell phone, three 9v batteries, a circuit diagram with relay and two 81 mm ammunition, one of which had a fuse attached.

Galon added that leaflets with markings of the Bangsamoro Independence Movement and the Bangsamoro Youth Movement were also inside the bag.

“All recovered items were turned over to Task Force Kutawato,” Galon said.
