MANILA, Philippines — A man tagged in the killing and beheading of his live-in-partner was arrested in Quezon City on Thursday, the Batasan Police reported.
Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Director, Police Brigadier General Joselito T Esquivel Jr., said that the suspect, identified as Alejandro Llena, was arrested after the authorities received information that Llena was spotted carrying a handgun along Arba Street in Barangay (village) Batasan Hills.
Authorities were immediately deployed to the scene where they noticed a commotion with Llena taking his daughter as a hostage.
Llena surrendered later on following a negotiation with the authorities.
During the interview with the suspect’s daughter, it was revealed that Llena’s live-in partner, Maricel Balaoro-Alejo, was still inside the house and was already dead.
Authorities who visited the house discovered the beheaded body of Alejo and recovered from the crime scene a Pistol Para caliber.45 without a serial number, one magazine, one kitchen knife, one butcher knife, four fired cartridge cases, one deformed bullet and one cartridge of caliber .45.
Further, authorities found that Llena was involved in illegal drugs and was a drug surrenderee in 2016.
The suspect will be charged with murder and turned over to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) for proper disposition./ac
