2 robbery suspects killed in shootout with QC cops
MANILA, Philippines – Two robbery suspects who preyed on jeepney passengers were killed in an encounter with the police in Quezon City early Thursday morning.
Operatives from the Quezon City Police District’s Batasan station said the casualties were clad in black sweatshirts and denim pants.
A concerned citizen alerted police to a robbery incident along Payatas Road corner Majaas Street.
Responding police officers pursued the suspects along Majaas Street at around 2:30 a.m.
The suspects, who were on board a motorcycle, fired at the police officers who were forced to return fire.
The suspects were killed on the spot.
Recovered from the scene were a .38 caliber revolver, the suspects’ motorcycle, and belongings of some of the jeepney passengers. /gsg
