BAGUIO CITY – Seven people died on Wednesday morning after the elf truck carrying them plunged into a ravine in Aguinaldo, Ifugao.

Police said the victims, residents of Barangay Majlong and Timboan, were supposed to attend a wake when the truck developed mechanical trouble and fell into a deep ravine at Sitio Muntonop in Barangay Ubao.

Among those killed were truck driver Joey Tambiyag and his wife Divina Chumatog Tambiyag.

Investigators said at least three people, identified as Artisto Paynohon, Kimberly Joy Tambiyag, and Fernando Bahiwag, were injured in the accident.

The municipal government said it would shoulder the burial expenses of the deceased and provide psychological debriefing and post-trauma support to the survivors.
