DSWD sets P28M for cash-for-work program in ‘Sendong’-hit areas

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – The Department of Social Welfare and Development has set aside more than P28 million for the cash-for-work program that will benefit the thousands of evacuees in this city, Iligan City and El Salvador.

DSWD Secretary Corazon Soliman made the declaration during Tuesday morning’s command conference prior to President Benigno Aquino III’s visit to communities devastated by Tropical Storm “Sendong”.

Evacuees, who will participate in the cash-for-work program, will do maintenance and clean-up work at the evacuation centers, as well as provide support for the repair of partially damaged houses.
