MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 4.8 quake hit Surigao del Sur province on Tuesday afternoon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
According to Phivolcs, the quake of tectonic origin happened at 5:38 p.m, with its epicenter located five kilometers southeast of Carrascal town, Surigao del Sur.
The quake had a depth of eight kilometers with Intensity IV felt in the towns of Carrascal and Cantillan in Surigao del Sur.
Phivolcs said the quake was an aftershock to the magnitude 5.5 quake that hit Surigao del Sur last July 13 that left over 50 people injured with a number of buildings, homes, and other structures damaged.

Phivolcs, however, said no damage and aftershocks are expected following the Tuesday aftershock. /je
