MANILA, Philippines — Let’s make this day a forgiving day.

This was the remark of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno on Tuesday after he was presented with two men who were arrested on Monday evening for allegedly using jumpers to illegally tap into power lines along Juan Luna Street corner Recto Avenue.

“Let’s make this day a forgiving day. Eh hindi naman araw-araw gusto natin.. Pero ito ay babala ah? Wala na kaming interest to go after you,” he said.

“Let’s be human today. I want everybody to do the same. Let’s forget about this. Sa mga manonood, just one time, paminsan minsan makita naman na ang liderato ng Maynila ay tao rin,” he added.

Maila Police identified the two men as Amador Cabauatan, 72, and  Christian Garcia, 37.

Police said that around 3 p.m. on Monday, the Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (SMaRT) received information from an informant about the rampant illegal electrical connections in Tondo.

SMaRT personnel then conducted an operation at 6 p.m. which led to the arrest of Cabauatan and Garcia and the recovery of electrical wires, screw drivers, and pliers from them.

“Ano muna ngayon, Pasko muna ngayon. Huwag na uulit ah? Makisuyo muna please,” Moreno told the two suspects.

“Nahahabag lang ako sa inyo pero hindi ako pwede mahabag araw-araw kasi kung laging ganon, edi wala ng gobyerno,” Moreno added.

Moreno earlier warned city residents that it is illegal to tamper with power lines using jumpers.

“We have to put order. There must be certainty in the city of Manila,” Moreno said.
