Cops kill 3 suspected robbers in QC shootout

MANILA, Philippines — Three suspected robbers were killed in an encounter with operatives of the Novaliches Police (PS-4) in Quezon City Thursday night.

According to reports from the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) on Friday, PS-4 personnel received information through emergency hotline 911 at about 8:00 p.m. Thursday about the presence of suspicious men in Gozum St., Saint James Subdivision in Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon.

But the police officers did not find the men when they arrived at the area.

At about 10:57 p.m., police again received the same information, prompting them to return to the said place. Police said that this time, they spotted the suspects, who immediately drew their guns and opened fire.

The police officers returned fire, killing the suspects on the spot.

Brig. Gen. Joselito Esquivel Jr., QCPD director, said the suspects remain unidentified.

Esquivel described one of the suspects as aged between 30 to 35, 5’4” in height, and is of medium built, and fair complexion. The same suspect also wore a blue shirt and denim pants and had tattoos on his body.

The other suspects, Esquivel said, are between 25 to 30 years old, about 5-6 feet in height and are of medium built, fair complexion, and have tattoos.

Recovered from the crime scene were  two caliber .38 revolvers, four empty shells, five sachets of “shabu,” and a backpack containing two duct tapes, chisel, two screw drivers, pliers, a pair of handcuffs and a bull cap. /muf
