Meralco still probing cause of power outage in some areas

Nearly 260,000 customers of Manila Electric Co. in the Makati and Taguig central business districts suffered a 41-minute service interruption on Thursday due to causes that were still being determined.

The power outage was attributed to a fault that occurred at 10:53 a.m. in Meralco’s Gardner substation in Muntinlupa City. It affected four other substations located in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City and the areas of Urdaneta and Kamagong in Makati City.

Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga said the service interruption was felt not only by 258,997 customers located in the Taguig and Makati business districts, but also by other people in parts of Manila, Pasay, Pasig, Pateros and San Juan.
