MANILA, Philippines—Two Chinese nationals landed in jail for the illegal detention of a Taiwanese at a hotel in Pasay City on Thursday (July 18).

Police identified those arrested as Zhang Shian, 31 and Yan Ming Jian, 27, both staying in Parañaque City.

Pasay police received a text message from the Pasay police station Tactical Operation Center about the victim, Tsai Yen Chen, 22, who is being kept against his will at Saiyan Travellers Inn along Domestic Road in Pasay City.

The tip prompted police to launch an operation, coordinating with the inn management to double check if, indeed, Tsai was being held illegally at the inn.

When police entered the room, they found the victim in a bed and the two suspects in another bed.

Tsai said he had been kept there against his will from 4 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. on Thursday. He said he would file a case against the Chinese nationals, who were brought to the Pasay police station while charges were being prepared against them./TSB
