MANILA, Philippines — Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday credited his high approval and trust rating in the latest Pulse Asia survey to the performance of the Senate.

According to the survey, Sotto obtained a 77% approval rating and a 73% trust rating.

“I am humbled by the continued display of support from the public. The latest survey is a reflection not on my leadership but on the institution which I serve,” Sotto said in a statement. “We, at the Senate, dispense our duties not for the sake of high or good ratings but to conscientiously perform our mandate with the public interest in mind.”

“What I can assure, under my leadership, is that the Senate will continue to strive and focus on our legislative work,” he added.

The survey noted that only 7% disapproved of Sotto’s performance as Senate President while 16% said they are undecided.

President Rodrigo Duterte had the highest approval rating with 85%, while Vice President Leni Robredo obtained an approval rating of 55%.
