1 year-old found dead in Makati; cops suspect rape
MANILA, Philippines (Updated) — A one-year-old male infant was found dead in an abandoned building in Makati on Wednesday after he was allegedly raped by a construction worker.
According to Makati City Police, the grandmother of the victim found him lying on the floor of the building at around 12:30 a.m. and later brought him to Sta. Ana Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.
The incident was then reported to officers of the Police Community Precinct 2.
Police said a witness claimed seeing the victim with a man later identified as 28-year-old Gerald Reparip on Tuesday night.
Upon initial questioning, the suspect said he was drunk and could not remember what happened when he was with the victim.
Police, however, said the suspect’s underwear had several blood stains, prompting the police to arrest him.
Investigators said they also found sperm cell inside the victim’s anus.
When the police interrogated him before reporters, the suspect later admitted raping and choking the child. He denied having taken illegal drugs. /je
