Teacher nabbed for lascivious acts

DIGOS CITY –– Police arrested a 24-year-old secondary school teacher in Santa Cruz, Davao del Sur at 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, for alleged lascivious acts to a minor.

Rey Ondayo Awatan,  24, a resident of Sitio Piping,  Barangay Sibulan in Sta. Cruz town, is facing charges for acts of lasciviousness following a complaint from a minor.

Awatan is teaching Music, Arts and Physical Education (MAPE) in a high school in Barangay Sibulan of Santa Cruz town.

The warrant for Awatan’s arrest was issued by Judge Carmelita Sarno Davin of the Digos Regional Trial Court Branch 19 on June 18, 2019.

The court fixed a P180,000-bail for Awatan’s temporary liberty.

Police Major Darwin Dura, spokesperson of the Davao del Sur Police, said Awatan was temporarily detained inside the Sta. Cruz police station lock-up cell.

Meanwhile, the Davao del Sur Police Mobile Force Company, together with Matanao town police, arrested rape suspect Roderick Diambolang Tamba on Monday afternoon.

Tamba, a farmer and resident of Purok 7, Sitio Duwal of Barangay Dungan Pekong in Matanao town, was ordered arrested by Judge Carfelita Cadiente Flores of Regional Trial Court Branch 61.

No bail was recommended for Tamba’s temporary liberty.
