“Sampung police station pero nakita natin na lahat ay malilinis (I visited and saw ten clean police stations),” he told reporters during the inspection.
Eleazar recalled his previous surprise visits to other police stations where he spotted dirty surroundings.
In one instance, he even relieved from his post a precinct commander in Pasig City after finding cigarette butts and other garbage within the precinct’s premises.

“Ito ‘yung nakita nating improvement, ‘yung sinasabi nating (This is the improvement we saw, what we call) exaggerated cleanliness in line with our intensified cleanliness policy,” Eleazar said.
He said this policy is also aimed at instilling discipline among police officers and officials.
“Gusto kasi natin na maliliit na bagay pa lang, gusto na natin maitama. Ayaw na natin lumaki, ayaw natin magsanhi pa na gayahin ng iba. Kaya ito ang gusto natin ipairal, ‘yung kalinisan (Even in minor aspects, we want to do things right, that is why we are always advocating cleanliness).” /gsg
