Where to find ‘Tandang Sora’ and the other heritage trees

MANILA, Philippines — To protect the remaining trees in Metro Manila, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) pioneered the Heritage Tree Program in 2009. Below is a list of the 29 trees which have been included in the program and their locations:

  1. Acacia, St. Theresa’s Collage, Quezon City
  1. Duhat, Kaligayahan Elementary School, Quezon City
  1. Balete, Malacañang Palace, Manila
  1. Narra, Fe Del Mundo Medical Center (Children’s Hospital), Quezon City
  1. Baliteng-baging, Lichauco Heritage House, Sta. Ana, Manila
  1. Sampaloc, Narra Street, Barangay Amihan, Project 3, Quezon City
  1. Indian rubber tree, San Francisco High School, Quezon City
  1. Duhat, Star Woods Manufacturing Inc., Karuhatan, Valenzuela City
  1. Dita tree, University of the Philippines Manila
  1. Botong, Philippine Women’s University, Jose Abad Santos Memorial School, Quezon City
