DOJ chief forms special team to probe Kidapawan broadcaster’s slay

MANILA, Philippines — Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra has ordered the creation of a special investigating team (SIT) that will investigate the death of Kidapawan broadcaster Eduardo Dizon.

“As Chair of the Presidential Task Force on Media Violence, I have given instructions for the creation of a special investigating team to conduct an inquiry into the killing of Eduardo Dizon and to file appropriate charges against the perpetrators thereof,” Guevarra said Friday.

He said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) will be part of the probing team.

According to Guevarra, SITs are headed by prosecutors in the field that assist in the case build-up.

“They coordinate actively with local law enforcement agents including the NBI for media killings,” Guevarra said. /kga
