3 gun-for-hire suspects dead in Abra shootout
BAGUIO CITY –– Three suspected members of a gun-for-hire group were killed in a shootout with policemen in Bangued town, Abra at dawn on Thursday.
Police said the suspects identified as Ariel Isao, Michael Gonzales, and a certain Glen, were aboard a tricycle when patrolling policemen flagged them at a checkpoint in Angad village.
Instead of stopping, the three fired at the policemen and sped towards Cosili village, also in Bangued, where the shootout ensued at 1:45 a.m.
Investigators said the suspects could have been conducting surveillance on a target prior to the shooting.
The three were reportedly hired hitmen during the May midterm elections and had since continued accepting assassination jobs. Karlston Lapniten
