Police have finally identified the young woman who was seen in a viral video licking a tub of ice cream and returning it to a supermarket’s shelf in Texas, United States.
The video was posted on Twitter on June 28, causing police to launch an investigation to find the suspect, as per the Lukfin Police & Fire’s post on Facebook last Thursday, July 4.

Authorities discovered that a Walmart branch in Lufkin City was the scene of the crime, thanks to the help of Blue Bell, the brand of ice cream seen in the video. They then obtained security footage of the woman in the video from the supermarket.
After locating the specific store, all Blue Bell half-gallons of the “Tin Roof” product have been withdrawn from the supermarket’s shelves.
“Our biggest concern is consumer safety – in that regard we are glad to see the tainted product off the shelves,” said Lufkin director of public safety Gerald Williamson.
In a separate update last Saturday, July 6, the police department stated that they have identified the woman in the video as a juvenile from San Antonio, a city roughly 508 kilometers away from Lufkin. The juvenile was in Lufkin during the incident since her boyfriend lives there.
Police stated that the couple had admitted the crime, although their names were not revealed by the police department.
Due to the woman being a minor, her case will be handled by the Texas juvenile system. Meanwhile, the police have yet to decide the fate of her boyfriend, who is of legal age. They are currently in talks with prosecutors on how to approach the case. JB
