Dimples Romana joins PH tourism efforts as Daniela ‘world tour’ memes go viral
MANILA, Philippines—Clad in a stylish red dress with a piece of luggage in tow, actress Dimples Romana, through her wandering alter ego “Daniela the explorer” in hilarious memes, has traveled both the iconic tourist destinations in the Philippines and the country’s unlikeliest places.
But even as the now viral comical images continue to make waves on social media and cemented its top and dominant TV ratings, Romana’s journey is not over just yet as it has gotten a new destination.
The actress is slated to join efforts of the Department of Tourism (DOT) in promoting both little-known and world-acclaimed tourist spots in the country.
In Facebook photos posted by the DOT on Monday, Romana is seen visiting and meeting with Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo- Puyat.

In its caption, the tourism department said that as an “art-enthusiast and a self-confessed museum-lover herself,” Romana “is excited” to collaborate with the DOT to “help promote our lesser-known destinations, museums, and heritage sites, and advocate for sustainable tourism.”
“Actress Dimples Romana a.k.a Daniella surprises Tourism Chief Bernadette Romulo-Puyat with a visit. Ms. Romana earlier says she wants to be part of the fun!” the caption stated.
Recently Romana became an instant online sensation as netizens made fun of and put “Daniela,” her character in the ABS-CBN’s afternoon hit series “Kadenang Ginto,” alongside her walk of shame not only on the streets but in odd places including a wet market, flooded areas and a pageant stage.
The hilarious meme comes from a teaser for an upcoming series of the afternoon drama where a humiliated Daniela Mondragon is seen walking on the streets, an unfamiliar territory for her glamorous persona.
Meanwhile, the brand-new season will show how fate and tables will be turned for the clashing Mondragons. /ra
