P100,000 reward offered for arrest of suspect in Grade 7 student’s murder

MANILA, Philippines — A monetary reward worth P100,000 is being offered for information that could lead to the arrest of the suspect who allegedly gunned down a Grade 7 student in Laguna.

Col. Eleazar Matta, provincial director of Laguna police, told INQUIRER.net Monday that the reward was offered by Laguna Gov. Ramil Hernandez.

He said the police are still hunting down Renan Estrope Valderama, alias Renz Ivan Valderama, a security guard aged around 30 to 35 and is the alleged estranged lover of the 15-year-old male victim.

Valderama allegedly shot the victim twice inside a classroom at the Castor Alviar National High School on July 4.

Investigation showed that Valderama and the victim had a romantic relationship and the suspect supports his schooling.

The victim’s mother is currently jailed for drug charges while his father already passed away.

According to Matta, the victim had decided to part ways with Valderama after the suspect allegedly abused the minor sexually sometime between March and June.

Matta said the victim had also filed a case of sexual abuse against the suspect two days before the incident. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
