CITY OF CALAPAN – Three passengers drowned when rough seas battered a boat off Dumaran, Palawan on Sunday, police said on Monday.

The Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan (Mimaropa) regional police force said Lea Gabo, 33 and her son Florence, 4, were knocked off the boat due to strong waves at around 12:30 p.m. in the Dumaran Channel off Barangay Sta. Teresita.

Florentino Lagrosa, 64, Lea’s father, tried to rescue his daughter and grandchild, but he too drowned.

Rescuers later recovered the bodies of the victims. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
