DOJ asks Bulacan court to issue hold departure order vs Palparan

MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Justice on Monday filed a motion before the Bulacan court to issue a hold departure order against retired Major General  Jovito Palparan.

Justice Secretary Leila De Lima said they filed the motion at 8:35 a.m., about an hour after Palparan was offloaded from his flight to Singapore at the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport at Clark in Pampanga.

Palparan is facing two counts of kidnapping and serious illegal detention for the abduction of the still missing UP students Sherlyn Cadapan and Karen Empeno.

Aside from Palparan, also criminally charged were Lieutenant Colonel Felipe Anotado, Master Sergeant Rizal Hilario and S/Sgt. Edgardo Osorio.

The case has been filed at the Bulacan Regional Trial Court. De Lima said the case will be raffled off to a judge who will handle the case and they expect that a warrant of arrest will be issued soon.
