MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and Arellano University (AU) inked a memorandum of agreement Friday granting scholarship to children of PDEA personnel killed in action.

Under the signed agreement, PDEA Director General Aaron Aquino said the “educational scholarship grant is available in all of AU’s seven campuses in Metro Manila for school year 2019 to 2023.”

Aquino said this is a way to help the family ease “financial stress” after a parent passes away.

“This is one way that we may help others. Definitely pag namatay ang amahin o inahin sa isang bahay, magkakaroon ng financial stress dahil wala nang nagtatrabaho,” Aquino said during the signing of agreement at PDEA’s National Headquarters in Quezon City.

“And I’m really recognizing the efforts of Arellano University for doing such and PDEA as a whole is very very grateful to you,” he added.

The agreement also offers scholarship to PDEA personnel who want to study in AU’s College of Law.

“The proposal that we made was to offer PDEA’s scholarships in to our College of Law for personnel of PDEA,” AU Chairman and President Francisco Paulino Cayco said. “Sa mga anak ng mga taga-PDEA, open lahat ng courses namin sa kanila.” (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
