Suspect in 2018 ambush of PDEA agents falls in Rizal
SAN PEDRO CITY –– A suspect in the 2018 ambush of five anti-narcotics agents in Lanao del Sur was arrested in Antipolo City, Rizal, the police said on Wednesday.
In a press conference in Rizal, Brigadier General Edward Carranza, chief of the Calabarzon police, said Jamel Borar was arrested with a female companion identified as Princess Lumpa, in a buy-bust operation in Barangay dela Paz around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Borar, who police said was a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), was among the suspects in the killing of five Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel in Kapai town in October 2018.
The PDEA agents came from an anti-drug symposium and were on their way to Marawi City when attacked by the armed men.
PDEA later released the names and photos of the eight suspects, including Borar’s, who were charged with multiple murder and frustrated murder of two other PDEA agents.
The Rizal police recovered suspected shabu (crystal meth) worth about P375,000 during the buy-bust, Carranza said in a statement.
