De Oro mayor expresses ‘deep regret’ over son’s arrest for drugs
Cagayan de Oro City Mayor Oscar Moreno on Wednesday (July 3) expressed “deep regret” after his 43-year-old son was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Angeles City on Saturday.
Moreno’s son, Sean, has been arrested along with seven drug suspects for allegedly selling party drugs and Valium, a prescription downer, worth P1 million.
“Even if he has gone astray, Sean is still my son, whom I took very special care since his birth,” Moreno said in a statement.
“I deeply regret the situation that Sean is in now. I will endlessly continue to struggle thinking about what led him to this.” he added.
The mayor said the family continued to support Sean as he hoped his son would still have “a bright tomorrow” despite the “difficult situation.”
“In spite of the pain, I remain undeterred in believing that God will show Sean the way. And we will unqualifiedly support him,” he added.
Aside from Sean, agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Central Luzon arrested Bernice Fabiosa, 21, Ma. Isabel Lawas, 19; Aileen Baldon, 23; Jamie Mendoza, 20, Jessa Scott, 19; Bernadeth Saavedra, 19; and Gregorio Imperial, 26, all residents of Angeles City.
Police said Fabiosa sold Dimethyl Trypticase, a party drug classified as a hallucinogen, worth P200,000 to an undercover agent in front of a hotel that led to the arrests.
Seized from the suspects were 310 tablets of party drugs (ecstasy), five capsules of Dimethyl Trypticase, a plastic bottle containing 100 Valium tablets, three plastic sachets containing suspected kush (a more potent cannabis variety), and a plastic sachet containing about 0.75 grams of cocaine.
