MANILA, Philippines – Angat Dam’s water elevation level rose to 161.86 meters on Thursday morning, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The latest measured water level is 0.78 meters higher than Wednesday’s level which was at 161.08 meters.
National Water Resources Board (NWRB) Executive Director Sevillo David said that the rain showers due to the southwest monsoon helped boost the dam’s water level.
Angat Dam’s water level, however, is still 19 meters short of its normal operating level, and 48 meters short of the normal high water level.
Angat Dam is Metro Manila’s main source of water.
If the rains continue, David said that the NWRB may consider increasing the water allocation of water concessionaires, which is currently at 36 cubic meters per second. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
