7 quakes felt on Mayon in last 24 hours
LEGAZPI CITY –– Mayon Volcano continued to show signs of unrest, with seven low-frequency quakes and one rockfall event recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in the last 24 hours.
In its bulletin on Wednesday, Phivolcs said weak to moderate white steam-laden emissions also crept downslope.
Gas emission was measured at 680 tons per day, which is higher than the standard 500 tons per day.
Phivolcs reiterated its call to the public to refrain from going into the six-kilometer danger zone and seven-kilometer extended danger zone while the volcano remained at alert level 2 (moderate level of unrest). Mar S. Arguelles
