DIGOS CITY—Police in Davao del Sur are banning backpacks at the site of celebrations marking the province’s 52nd founding anniversary on Monday (July 1).

Colonel Alan Manibog, provincial police chief, said authorities would be strict in enforcing the “No Backpack” rule, issuing a directive for that on Sunday (June 30).

The celebrations would start with Mass at a cathedral in this city and feature a motorcade around the city and entertainment programs at the Davao del Sur Sports Coliseum.

The No Backpack rule would also be enforced at the Rizal Park, venue of boxing tournaments and concerts that are still part of the celebrations.
