In his speech, Vico described the reaction of his parents when he told them about his decision to run as Pasig City’s mayor.

My mother almost choked when I told her over dinner that I decided to run for mayor),” Vico said, drawing laughter from the crowd.

Vico then described the reaction of his father when he told him about his decision over the phone — dead silence.

Vico told reporters after his oath taking that his parents are both proud of his achievements.
