MANILA, Philippines – Incoming Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto thanked the Eusebio clan for their contributions to the progress of the city after taking his oath of office on Sunday.
Sotto ended the Eusebios’ 27-year rule in Pasig City when he defeated outgoing mayor Robert “Bobby” Eusebio by over 70,000 votes in the recent midterm elections.
“Nagpapasalamat din ako sa Eusebio family sa mga nagawa nila para sa Pasig pero ngayon panahon na para sa makabagong politika sa ating lungsod (I thank the Eusebio family for everything they have done for Pasig, but it is now time for a new brand of politics in the city),” Sotto told reporters following the oath- taking ceremony.
Following the Sotto’s proclamation as the new mayor of the city, Eusebio filed an electoral protest.
“Sa akin, ok lang dahil lalong makikita ng lahat kung gaano ka-accurate ang resulta,” Sotto said in an earlier Facebook post.
Sotto added that he wishes Eusebio “inner peace to accept the truth” on the results of the elections.
