MANILA, Philippines — Compared to his fellow senatorial race winners, incoming Senator Lito Lapid only spent more than P10.7 million for his campaign.
Lapid’s Statements of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) showed that his campaign spending reached P10,754,074.
A huge chunk of this amount was sourced from personal funds or resources while P175,700 were from in-kind contributions.

The campaign spending of his fellow senate race winners ranged from P60 million to more than P100 million.
Lapid submitted his Soce on Thursday afternoon, around 14 days after the deadline set by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
According to Comelec’s Campaign Finance Office, Lapid paid a fine worth P10,000 for late filing.
Lapid secured a Senate comeback in the midterm elections last May 13 when he ranked 7th place with 16,965,464 votes. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
