Cop accidentally shoots wife, daughter while about to clean gun

Drug suspect slain in Olongapo buy-bust

MANILA, Philippines — A police officer who was unloading his pistol accidentally shot his wife and daughter on Friday in Tondo, Manila.

The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Police Corporal Jhon Lester Pagar, assigned at the Manila Police District Station 2.

Pagar’s 35-year-old wife Marilyn died upon arrival at the Mary Johnston Hospital while his three-year-old daughter Kendra remained under critical observation due to a gunshot wound on her lower back.

The incident happened in their home in Kasipagan cor. Matimtiman Streets in Tondo, when Pagar arrived home at 1:40 a.m.

The policeman’s father, Jonjon, told police that his son went home after a basketball game and was about to clean his service firearm.

Jhon Lester reportedly had his Glock 17 pistol and while unloading it, the pistol accidentally went off.

The bullet passed through the wall into his wife and child’s room.

The suspect voluntarily surrendered himself to authorities. Also recovered from the crime scene were one magazine loaded with 13 live ammunition and one 9mm spent shell. (Editor: Jonathan P. Vicente)
