Farmer swimming in Iligan City river found dead

ILIGAN CITY –– A farmer who was last seen swept by a strong river current at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 24, was found dead around 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, along the coastline of Barangay Maria Cristina here.

Police Captain Taha Tambog, chief of Iligan City Police Station 2, said Eddie Araneta Demecillo, 37, was swimming in the river with friends when he was swept by the strong current, according to the account of his cousin Richard Abello.

Demecillo lived in Barangay Patag, Tagoloan, Lanao del Norte.

Barangay Maria Cristina, where the victim’s body was recovered, is about 20 kilometers away from where he was swimming. (Editor: Leti Boniol)
