MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has placed the Luzon grid under yellow alert on Saturday, June 22.
In an advisory, the NGCP said the yellow alert on the country’s largest grid will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.,
from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The NGCP added that the Luzon grid’s available capacity is at 11,095 megawatts, while its peak demand is at 10,300 megawatts.
“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” the advisory read.
The NGCP placed the Luzon grid under yellow and red alert status on Friday.

According to the Department of Energy, a yellow alert is raised when a grid’s reserve power — the difference between supply and demand — is below the required level. However, the alert will not lead to power outages.
Meanwhile, a red alert is raised on grids when there are zero operating reserves, which could lead to consumers to experience rotational brownouts. (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
