Korean national nabbed in Mindanao for overstaying, prostitution

MANILA, Philippines — An overstaying Korean national was arrested in General Santos City, South Cotabato for operating a prostitution den, the Bureau of Immigration (BI) said on Friday.

BI Acting Intelligence Division Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said Suc Joo Chang, also known as Seok Choi, was arrested in his nightclub on June 13 by NBI’s Mindanao Intelligence Task Group.

BI agents rescued 22 Filipinas employed as bar girls, who were forced to perform lewd acts for customers.

The NBI also found that Suc has been overstaying in the Philippines as his visa expired on Jan. 19.

Suc is currently detained at the BI’s holding facility in Davao and will face deportation proceedings. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
