MANILA, Philippines – Senator Richard Gordon who is also the chairman of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC), ordered the preparation of PRC water tankers for the delivery of water in Metro Manila amid the impending water shortage.
Gordon issued the order after the water elevation level at Angat Dam dropped to 160.73 meters, as shown by data provided by the weather bureau.

Gordon assured the public that the PRC is also ready to supply hospitals and other critical establishments in the metro with water.
“Just like last March, we are prepared to deploy our water tankers to supply water to most critical establishments, especially hospitals. We have 20 water tankers in Metro Manila that are capable of filling up high-pressure water systems,” Gordon said in a statement.
Should the water level in Angat Dam continues to drop in the next following days, Gordon said the PRC will prioritize hospitals in its water deliveries to make sure that healthcare services will not be interrupted and to avoid health complications.
National Water Resources Board Executive Director Sevillo David earlier predicted that the 160-meter low level mark may be breached by week’s end.
“Ito po ay nakikita natin sa ngayon, kung magpapatuloy po yung sitwasyon at walang ulan na papasok, kung magpapatuloy ‘yan, baka ho ma-reach ho natin or dumating po doon sa 160 meter critical level by the end of the week,” David said. (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
