Angat Dam water level nears critical mark
MANILA, Philippines – Angat Dam’s water elevation level on Thursday dropped to160.73 meters, down 0.57 meters from Wednesday’s level (161.26 meters), data from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) showed.
Last Monday, the National Water Resources Board (NWRB) warned that water rationing may be imposed if the water level of Angat Dam — Metro Manila’s primary source of water, drops below the 160 meter mark.
NWRB Executive Director Sevillo David earlier predicted that the 160-meter low level mark may be breached by the end of the week.
“Ito po ay nakikita natin sa ngayon, kung magpapatuloy po yung sitwasyon at walang ulan na papasok, kung magpapatuloy ‘yan, baka ho ma-reach ho natin or dumating po doon sa 160 meter critical level by the end of the week,” David said on Monday. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
