Escaped Pangasinan inmate with grenade shot dead

MANILA, Philippines – A detainee who escaped from the Burgos District Jail in Pangasinan was shot and killed by police who spotted him in the municipality of Sual armed with a grenade Wednesday afternoon.

Police Col. Rederico Maranan of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office identified the casualty as Michael Mas, 29, who escaped from the Burgos jail facility last June 16.


Concerned citizens tipped off the police regarding Mas’ presence in Barangay Baybay in Sual.

Mas was reported wounded and transported to hospital but expired on the way.  /gsg
