Duterte names new NFA administrator
MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a National Food Authority (NFA) insider as its new administrator.
Duterte has appointed NFA Deputy Administrator for Marketing Operations Judy Carol Dansal as NFA chief, NFA officer-in-charge Tomas Escarez said in a phone interview.
Dansal, a career official, replaced Jason Aquino as NFA administrator.
The Office of the Ombudsman dismissed Aquino from service in April over alleged rice smuggling.
Escarez said Dansal took her oath before Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol on Tuesday afternoon.

Article continues after this advertisement“The nomination from the President [for Dansal] was relayed to the Executive Secretary. I officially received it last Friday,” Escarez said.
The council, he said, approved the nomination of Dansal on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Escarez, Dansal said she will report to work as NFA chief on Wednesday, June 19.Dansal, Escarez also said, will serve the unexpired term of Aquino until June 30, 2019.
