Investment ‘scam’ operators in Davao del Norte flee with P209M
TAGUM CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE –– Amid the raging controversy involving the Kapa Community Ministry International Inc. and other questionable get-rich-quick schemes, the operators of a company engaged in the same scam in Tagum City was reported to have fled with more than P200 million in investments from people they have duped.
The Tagum City Police Office is now preparing a case of large-scale estafa against the operators and all those behind the QuestLink Digital Marketing Services after a man representing investors from this city reported that its operators were now nowhere to be found.
Police Captain Anjanette Tirador, Tagum City police spokesperson, on Saturday said they were now on the lookout for a Kennerth Paz Nagas, reportedly from Quezon City and the chief executive officer of Questlink, and a Rogie Sabando, the company’s operation manager, after a complainant went to their station on Friday to report that Nagas could no longer be reached.
The complainant was an agent for some 100 investors who had put in a total of P209 million to Questlink, which promised a whopping 500-percent return on investment in just 15 days, Tirador said.
Tirador said the complainant, who is now under police protection, informed the police that the investors he represented all came from Tagum City. The investments were placed between June 4 until early this week.
Tirador said the complainant has revealed that Questlink started its operation in Tagum only last June 1.
Tirador said they learned that Questlink has no office and the investors’ conduct their “pay in,” or deliver investments through their agents, at the lobby of a hotel in the city.
The first “payout,” or the release of the 500-percent interest for the investment, would have been done next week.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in Davao del Norte is now preparing the affidavit of the complainant, according to Tirador.
Tirador urged other victims to come out and file their complaint against Questlink.
Tirador added they would recommend that the complainant be placed under the Department of Justice’s witness protection program because he would be the state witness in the case. (Editor: Leti Z. Boniol)
