Bato, Pimentel funded Senate bid for less than P100M

MANILA, Philippines — Unlike their fellow candidates who ran under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), the campaign spending of Senators-elect Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III only amounted to less than P100 million.

Dela Rosa’s Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (Soce) showed that he spent P92,701,116 for his Senate campaign, mostly sourced from contributions in cash and in kind.

Of the amount, Dela Rosa received donations amounting to P92,604,861, and he spent P96,554 from personal funds.

Meanwhile, Pimentel spent the least amount for his campaign among the candidates under the PDP-Laban’s five-man slate.

He declared total expenditures amounting to P79,595,818, with P79,525,000 coming from contributions in cash and in kind. Personal funds spent for the campaign totaled P70,818.

The other three candidates who ran under PDP-Laban spent over P100 million each for their respective campaigns.

Senator-elect Bong Go, the top spender among the winning Senatorial candidates, spent a total of P161,418,299.

Most of Go’s election spending came from cash and in-kind contributions.

Senator-elect Francis Tolentino spent P159,169,836 for his campaign, mostly from donations (P112,900,000).

Meanwhile, Maguindanao Rep. Dong Mangudadatu funded his campaign with P109,502,291 from personal funds. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
