Car shop owner wanted for selling stolen cars nabbed in San Juan City

MANILA, Philippines – A car shop owner tagged by police as the eighth most wanted man in San Juan was arrested after an arrest warrant was served on him on Thursday afternoon.

Operatives of San Juan City police station under Col. Ariel Fulo seized Robert Fernandez, 29, inside the latter’s house at No. 4 Jose Wright Street, Barangay Batis around 4:30 p.m.

An arrest warrant was issued for Fernandez by Judge Rosanna Romero-Malaya of Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 88 for a carnapping case.

Police also said Fernandez was tagged as the No. 8 most wanted person in the city after it was found out that he was selling stolen cars.

In 2015, Fernandez stole a Land Cruiser owned by a police officer in Quezon City, police said.

Fernandez was charged for violation of the Anti-Carnapping Law before the Quezon City RTC. However, the suspect was released after posting bail.

Police said Fernandez also faced a pending robbery case at the Manila RTC Branch 52.

Fernandez was brought to San Juan City police custodial facility for detention.
