Southwest monsoon to bring rains over western Luzon

MANILA, Philippines — The western portions of Luzon, particularly the Ilocos Region, Batanes, Babuyan Group of Islands, Zambales, Bataan, and Palawan, will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon, the weather bureau said in its 4 a.m. Friday forecast.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) meanwhile said Metro Manila and the rest of the country would have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers brought by localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods or landslides are possible during severe thunderstorms, Pagasa noted.
