Butcher shot dead in Abra

BAGUIO CITY — A butcher died after he was shot by unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen in Bangued, Abra on Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as Michel Torres, 42, a resident of Barangay Bangbangar, and was in the village’s drugs watch list but had previously surrendered to authorities.

Initial investigation said the victim was riding his motorcycle with his son as they headed home from the public market when the two gunmen tailed them along the Washington Street in Barangay Zone 2.

The assailants then rammed Torres’ motorcylce before shooting the victim twice.

Police said the suspects fled after the attack, while Torres was taken to a hospital where he later died.
