MANILA, Philippines — Police rescued on Monday a 2-year-old boy who was allegedly forced by his mother to drink liquor and smoke a cigarette in Quezon City.
According to police, the boy’s father discovered through a cellphone video that his 25-year-old wife had forced their son to drink liquor and smoke a cigarette.
Police said the video was recorded on June 3 in an apartelle on P. Tuazon Street in Cubao, Quezon City.
The victim’s father, whose name was not disclosed by the police, reported the incident to Novaliches Police Station (PS 6) of the Quezon City Police District, which led to the arrest of the suspect and the rescue of the child.
The suspect will face charges for alleged violation of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act (Republic Act No. 7610).
The boy will be turned over to the Quezon City Social Services and Development Department, police said.
