P1.8 M shabu seized, 3 arrested in Manila drug bust

MANILA, Philippines — Police recovered P1.8  million worth of shabu from three drug suspects allegedly connected to a Chinese group in a buy-bust operation in Manila on Monday.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the operation at around 1:10a.m. in the vicinity of Osmena highway and Vito Cruz Street resulted in the arrest of Mark Anthony Alcantara, Rudy Kidlat and Rona Valenzuela.

The operation was carried out by operatives from the NCRPO Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, Manila Police District – Sta. Ana Police Station (PS-6), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – NCR.

Confiscated during the bust were 1, 000 grams of shabu and a car allegedly used by the suspects to deliver illegal drugs.

The suspects, who were under surveillance for a month, are allegedly linked to a Chinese drug group operating in Metro Manila and Cavite.

The suspects will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Editor: Gilbert S. Gaviola)
