EU sponsors stargazing event at BGC
MANILA, Philippines — The delegation of the European Union in the Philippines will sponsor a stargazing and public telescope-viewing on Monday in Taguig City as part of Viva Europa 2019 cultural showcase celebrating Philippine-European friendship.
“Telescopes and other astronomy gadgets will be assembled and illustrated by the presenters and will be used to identify the most prominent constellations, to observe the Moon and the brightest celestial objects that the heavily light-polluted evening sky of Manila will allow to view,” the EU delegation said in a statement.
Dubbed “One Starry Night, Meet EUr Astronomers,” the event will be held on 6 p.m. on Monday at Sky Park, SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration starts at 5:30 p.m.
The presenters will be ready to answer questions about outer space such as how big the universe is, how many stars are out there, if there is life on other planets, added the EU delegation, which serves as the embassy of the European Union. —Jerome Aning
