MANILA, Philippines – About 850 passengers of the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) were offloaded on Friday afternoon after one of its northbound trains encountered a technical glitch.
In an advisory, the management said the train stopped around 5:21 p.m. and unloaded all its passengers at the Boni station.
The incident was caused by electrical failure in the train’s motor as its sub-components (i.e. main chopper, regulator, insulator) were worn-out, the management explained.
Affected passengers were loaded in the next train which arrived seven minutes later.
The MRT-3 management vowed to implement preventive maintenance and replace defective electrical components. (Editor: Eden Estopace)
